Inside my mind – looking for the bad stuff

I now have a full collection of MRI and PET scan imagery for my diagnostics.

It is amazing how they can take imagery of your body in slices as they look for the bad stuff.

These images of me are almost a year old now (2011.04.19).

All things considered: life is good. Very good.

During EVERY checkup I have the pleasure of a camera that runs up through both sides of my nose. Those little excursions into the depths of my mind also get photographed in full color. Haven’t been able to get copies of those — but the cameras provided early warning confirmation of suspicious activity during my 2012.03.19 checkup.

The video cameras — on glassfibre cable — allow the doctors to record what they are seeing as they drive around. It feels as if the end of the cable has little pincers that are able to push open areas where they want to go. It is a strange sensation — but no pain or real discomfort — to have these little cinematic travelers investigating the dark side of your mind.

A “smooth” brain? I always thought it was supposed to be full of wrinkles that signified your brain was convoluting in order to cram more “stuff” in! It really is shocking when you see the inner workings of your body. Yesterday I had a sonogram of my carotid arteries and it is always interesting when they turn on the sound and you hear the blood swishing through you body. Monday I am going to l et them prowl a round inside my heart looking for plaque and the squishing it or boring through it and then putting these little steel scaffolds in there to hold the arteries open. They may even go an take a peak in my carotid arteries looking for the same enemy–plaque–all from living too much dolce vita. I guess we always pay for our sins one way or another! Good luck Billy–as I have said before, your remain in our daily prayers.

Been there… Done that, George. I’m guessing you also had the Cardiac Cat… A camera inserted in a vein in your leg and run up to take a look at our heart. In my case, my heart was in great shape… But my electrical system is out of of whack.

I’m guessing none would be here now without modern medicine… For which I’m sure we are all grateful. Life isn’t just good… It’s a bit sweeter because we survived long enough to still be here.

One of those pictures would make a great Facebook Profile shot.
